How to keep your motivation to the fullest so as not to abandon your workouts?

¬ŅC√≥mo mantener tu motivaci√≥n a tope para no abandonar tus entrenamientos?

How many times has it happened to you that you start a new exercise routine and just when the day and time to train arrives you say to yourself, why am I going to go today if I am so comfortable here and I am so tired? Better like we leave it for tomorrow.

Today I want to talk to you about how to keep your motivation high so you don't give up your workouts.

Make the decision

The first thing is to make the decision: I want to do exercises and start training. Your goal has to be well defined and clear in your mind.

Do not leave for tomorrow what you can do today.

How many times do we say to ourselves "Monday I start training" or "Monday I start the diet" and when Monday arrives we were not ready or, due to things in life, "we forgot"...

The time to start is NOW, our brain does not understand the future and if we always say tomorrow, next week, one of these days I start... our brain keeps looking at the future and it will cost us much more to take action... because tomorrow is tomorrow and tomorrow comes tomorrow and tomorrow never comes... So the best thing to do is make the decision and immediately start moving.

Find your what for

This question is crucial because it goes directly to your very intimate and personal motivation... Ask yourself at least 3 times, what am I going to train for? And write the first thing that comes to mind.

And here I want to tell you the story of Rosa...

A patient who one day came to my office to ask me for help, because she couldn't find the necessary motivation to stay constant with her training and when I asked Rosa what she wanted to train for, her first answer was: to make my partner like me more. However, as a coach I knew that behind this answer there was something more... so I continued my unsympathetic questions, and why does Rosa want her partner to like her more? And Rosa answered me: so that she pays more attention to me... and so I went back, continued and asked again: and why does Rosa want her partner to pay more attention to her? The answer was: to feel loved.

At this point I knew that we were really getting closer to the true motivation that moved Rosa to decide to train and look for a healthier life path, so I asked her again:

And why does Rosa want to feel loved? And this time Rosa responded shyly and with flushed cheeks: TO FEEL HAPPY and then her eyes lit up...

I feel that we had arrived at that moment, to what really is a personal and very intimate motivation... because it is not about pleasing a third party (which is very difficult, it makes one stay motivated), what really motivates us is which means something important to ourselves… and what is more important than happiness.

From then on we continued with our coaching session and everything flowed wonderfully.

After finding your why, visualize yourself as if you have already achieved your goal. In the case of Rosa: I asked her to imagine herself happy doing exercises, feeling good about her body, feeling more attractive and happy with her results, which will also surely improve her health.

Choose a discipline you like

I have heard in my office and on the street many people who sign up for the gym as if it were an obligation and you hear them say every day continuously: "I hate the gym", I don't like this, what a nuisance, how lazy...

And I wonder how come they hate the gym and are there? And how are they going to feel good if they are complaining all the time from the time they leave the house until they finish the exercise.

If this is your case, perhaps you repeat those phrases like a parrot because you had a bad experience in the past, or because you have not found your true motivation, or simply because you have not allowed yourself to explore the different forms of exercise that exist to find one that suits you. really like it and it suits your personality and lifestyle.

So, starting today, I invite you to try different types of exercise and then come and tell me about your experience here: Try yoga, Pilates, TRX, Rebolaxe, weights, cardiovascular exercise such as walking, swimming, jogging, climbing the mountain, fitwall, functional exercises, or simply dancing around the house with the music you like, passing by, as I say doing exercises with music and dancing like a twist to make it much more fun.

I am sure that if you dare to try this diversity of exercise routines, some of them will seem at least interesting or achievable... and when you start to see the results, you will like them, in short, the important thing is to KEEP MOVING.
